Need A Chai Time Snack? Try This Banana Chips Recipe At Home

Made from unripe bananas, banana chips are an easy snack to recreate at home in small batches and any kind of seasoning blend one might prefer to use. Enjoy these crispy, warm chips alongside a cup of tea or eat it with a delicious, protein-packed dip on the side.

INGREDIENTS

500 grams raw banana 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 tablespoon salt 1 teaspoon black pepper powder 1 teaspoon chilli powder Oil, for frying Salt, to taste

STEP 1

Peel the raw bananas and place them in a large bowl before adding the turmeric powder and tablespoon of salt and filling it to the brim with water.

STEP 2

Ensure that the bananas are fully submerged in the solution for 30-40 minutes, before taking them out and wiping thoroughly with a kitchen towel.

STEP 3

Heat the oil in a deep frying pan while using a mandoline slicer to create thin roundels of the banana in a plate.

STEP 4

Check the oil for the right temperature by dropping a couple of discs to see if the float on top immediately.

STEP 5

Once the oil is hot enough, drop the thin banana slices into the hot oil and fry for a couple of minutes, until they turn crispy.

STEP 6

Meanwhile, combine the salt, pepper and red chilli powder in a small bowl to sprinkle the seasoning blend over the warm chips and toss them to coat evenly.
