A quick breakfast can make Navratri mornings much easier, especially when you want to have something light without having to spend much time in the kitchen. This papaya smoothie mixes ripe fruit with some yoghurt and milk to get the natural sweetness, fibre, calcium, as well as protein.
1 cup ripe papaya, peeled and diced ½ cup plain yoghurt ½ cup chilled milk 1 tsp honey, optional ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 almonds, chopped, optional 2–3 ice cubes, optionalg
Pick soft papaya to get the natural sweetness and a smooth texture in the smoothie, so that you do not have to add any additional sweeteners.
Peel, deseed and dice the papaya into small cubes so that it blends quickly without leaving fibrous chunks in the smoothie.
Add the diced papaya, yoghurt, milk and cardamom to a blender, then blend until it turns creamy and is evenly mixed.
Add a little more milk to get a thinner smoothie or a few ice cubes to get a colder, thicker drink, as you prefer.
Ripe papaya may deliver enough sweetness on its own, or you can add sugar.
Pour the prepared papaya smoothie into a glass, top with chopped almonds, and drink instantly for the best flavour and texture.
