Saffron Halwa is a traditional bhog for Day 3 of Navratri, offered to Goddess Chandraghanta. Prepared with semolina, saffron strands, ghee, and sugar, it is aromatic, rich, and filled with festive sweetness. This prasad recipe is made without onion and garlic, keeping it pure for Navratri vrat.
½ cup semolina (sooji/rava) ¼ cup ghee ½ cup sugar 2 cups milk 8–10 saffron strands (soaked in warm milk) 2 tbsp cashews 2 tbsp almonds 2 tbsp raisins ½ tsp cardamom powder
Heat ghee in a pan and roast semolina until golden and aromatic.
Pour in milk slowly, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Add saffron-infused milk, sugar, and cardamom powder, and mix well.
Cook until halwa thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
Garnish with nuts and raisins before serving as prasad.
