Mutton Curry: Kerala Style Recipe To Try At Home

Kerala-style mutton curry is a flavourful and aromatic dish. The curry is prepared with tender mutton, pieces cooked in a blend of coconut oil, spices and coconut milk, giving it a distinct and creamy texture.

Ingredients

For Marination: 500g cleaned mutton 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder Salt to taste For Curry: 2 tbsp coconut oil 2 thinly sliced onions 2 chopped tomatoes 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 2 slit green chillies 1/2 cup coconut milk 1/2 tsp fennel seeds 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp black pepper powder Curry leaves Water as needed

Step 1

Marinate the mutton with turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a pan, add fennel seeds, curry leaves, sliced onions and saute until golden brown.

Step 3

Add ginger garlic paste, green chillies, cook for 2 minutes, then add tomatoes and cook until soft.

Step 4

Mix in coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper, add marinated mutton and stir well and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add water, cover, cook until the mutton is tender, then stir in coconut milk and simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 6

Garnish with curry leaves, serve hot!
