Mushroom Pepper Fry With The Perfect Heat You’ll Crave Again

This South Indian mushroom pepper fry recipe brings together juicy mushrooms, crushed black pepper, and fragrant spices to create a spicy, dry stir-fry that pairs beautifully with roti or steamed rice.

Ingredients

200 g cleaned and sliced mushrooms 1 thinly sliced onion 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1-1½ tsp crushed black pepper ½ tsp cumin powder ½ tsp garam masala Curry leaves Salt to taste 2 tbsp oil

Step 1

Heat oil in a wide pan, add curry leaves and sliced onions, and sauté on medium flame until the onions turn soft and lightly golden.

Step 2

Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute, until the raw aroma disappears.

Step 3

Add mushrooms and salt, mix well, and cook uncovered so the mushrooms release and absorb their natural moisture.

Step 4

Sprinkle crushed black pepper, cumin powder, and garam masala to make this mushroom pepper fry aromatic and flavour-rich.

Step 5

Toss well and cook for 2-3 minutes until dry, glossy, and well coated with spices. Serve hot.
