Mushroom Masala: North Indian Restaurant-Style Recipe You Can Replicate At Home

Button mushrooms simmered in an onion-and-tomato-based masala are among the favourite recipes in North Indian homes. To make the restaurant-style dish at home, follow this mushroom masala recipe.

Ingredients

400 grams button mushrooms 1 onion 3 tomatoes 1 ginger 2 cloves garlic 3 tablespoons oil 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 cloves 1 inch cinnamon stick 2 green cardamoms 1 black cardamom 1 bay leaf 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon garam masala  Salt to taste Chopped coriander leaves

Step 1

Heat some oil and sauté cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom, black cardamom, and a bay leaf.

Step 2

Cook chopped onion till golden, and add ginger, garlic, and pureed tomatoes.

Step 3

Add all the spices and sliced mushroom.

Step 4

Balance the consistency by adding some water. Cook till the mushrooms are tender.

Step 5

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
