Multigrain Idli Dosa Batter: Try This Nutritious South Indian Recipe

Multigrain idli dosa batter is a nutritious alternative to the traditional idli dosa batter. It is made with oats, millets, which are rich in fibre, protein, essential nutrients and is perfect for making fluffly idlis and crispy dosas

Ingredients

2 cups rice 1 cup urad dal 1/2 cup mixed millets (foxtail, pearl, or finger millet) 1/4 cup oats 1/4 cup poha 1 tsp fenugreek seeds Salt to taste

Step 1

Wash rice, urad dal, millets, oats, and fenugreek seeds thoroughly, and soak them in water for 6-8 hours.

Step 2

Drain the soaked mixture and grind it into a smooth batter, unsure that the batter is thick and lump-free.

Step 3

Transfer the batter to a bowl, add salt, let it ferment in a warm place and wait for the batter to rise and become airy.

Step 4

Before use, stir the batter gently, and add water to adjust the consistency for idlis or dosa.

Step 5

Steam idlis and spread the batter on a hot tawa and cook until crisp and golden.
