Mulled wine is a warm spiced drink traditionally served during winter celebrations. Red wine is gently heated with citrus and whole spices to infuse flavour without boiling, making it suitable for slow sipping on cold nights and New Year’s Eve gatherings.
1 bottle red wine 1 orange, sliced 2 cinnamon sticks 4 cloves 2 tbsp sugar or honey Optional star anise
Add wine, orange slices, spices and sugar to a saucepan.
Heat gently on low, avoiding boiling.
Simmer for 15–20 minutes to allow flavours to infuse.
Strain lightly and serve warm in heatproof glasses.
