Moong dal vadi is a traditional Indian delicacy made by sun-drying spiced moong dal paste into small vadis. Rich in protein and packed with flavour, these crispy vadis are a staple in Indian households and add an authentic touch to everyday meals.
1 cup moong dal 2-3 finely chopped green chillies 1-inch grated ginger 1 tsp cumin seeds A pinch asafoetida ½ tsp salt Oil as required
Wash and soak moong dal for 3-4 hours, drain and grind to a coarse paste without adding water.
Add green chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, asafoetida, salt and mix well.
Grease a plate or tray with oil, drop small portions of batter onto the plate to form vadis.
Sun-dry for 2-3 days until completely dry and hard, then store in an airtight container.
Fry and use in curries, sabzis, or pulao.
