Moong Dal Chilla Recipe, Desi Style Protein-Packed Breakfast

Moong dal chilla is a healthy, protein-rich Indian pancake made from soaked and ground yellow moong dal. It is light, gluten-free, and perfect for breakfast or a quick meal. Served with chutney or curd, it's both tasty and nutritious.

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal 1–2 green chillies 1-inch ginger 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves 1 finely chopped onion Salt to taste ½ tsp turmeric powder Water as needed Oil or ghee for cooking

Step 1

Rinse and soak moong dal in water for 2-3 hours and drain excess water.

Step 2

Grind the soaked dal, green chillies, and ginger into a smooth batter using minimal water.

Step 3

Transfer batter to a bowl, then mix in salt, turmeric, chopped onions, and coriander.

Step 4

Heat a non-stick or iron tawa, then pour a ladleful of batter and spread it like a dosa and drizzle oil around the edges.

Step 5

Cook until golden on both sides, then serve hot with green chutney or curd.
