Momos Chutney Recipe: Make The Spicy Red Dipping Sauce At Home

Momo, the steamed dumpling from Nepal, is loved by most Indians. If you’re making momo at home, your plate will be incomplete without the red chutney.  For the street-style momo chutney, follow this recipe.

Ingredients

4-5 dried red chillies 2 tomatoes 4-5 garlic cloves ½ tsp roasted sesame seeds (optional) Salt to taste 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp oil

Step 1

Soak the dried red chillies in hot water for at least ten minutes.

Step 2

In the meantime, heat some oil and sauté chopped garlic and tomatoes till soft.

Step 3

Add soaked red chillies, roasted sesame seeds, and salt. Cook for about a minute.

Step 4

Let the mixture cool. Once at room temperature, add lemon juice and blend it into a paste.

Step 5

Once the red chutney is smooth, serve with a hot plate of momo.
