Chana ka halwa is a comforting, old-school dessert known for its deep roasted flavour and nourishing feel. Slow-cooked in ghee, this halwa turns humble chana dal into a rich, glossy sweet perfect for cold evenings.
1 cup chana dal, soaked and finely ground ¾ cup sugar ½ cup ghee 2 cups water 2 tbsp chopped dry fruits
Heat ghee in a heavy pan and add the ground chana dal, stirring constantly on low flame.
Roast patiently until the mixture thickens, darkens slightly, and releases a strong nutty aroma.
Slowly add water while stirring to avoid lumps, allowing the halwa to cook evenly.
Add sugar and continue cooking until it melts and the halwa turns glossy and thick.
Finish with dry fruits, cook for another minute, and serve warm for the best flavour.
