When summer meals begin to feel too heavy, a glass of mint tadka chaas can make all the difference. Prepared with fermented curd, fresh mint, and a fragrant tempering of curry leaves, this refreshing drink cools the body, helps digestion, and pairs perfectly with simple, everyday meals.
1 cup curd 3 cups chilled water 2 tbsp fresh mint leaves 1 tbsp coriander leaves ½ tsp roasted cumin powder ½ tsp black salt ¼ tsp regular salt 1 tsp ghee ½ tsp cumin seeds 4-5 curry leaves 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
In a vessel, mix curd, water, mint leaves, coriander leaves, black salt, regular salt, and roasted cumin.
Let the chaas rest for a few minutes so that the herbs release their freshness to the drink.
In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and hing and let them crackle.
Now, add the hot tempering over the prepared chaas so that the flavours deepen.
Keep the prepared chaas in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes, as it feels more enjoyable when sipped cold.
Serve it in glasses and enjoy the cooling drink to soothe the stomach in intense heat.
