Mint chutney is a staple across Indian kitchens and works as a dip, spread, or side with everyday meals. It’s cooling, herby, and simple to make fresh at home. Here are five variations you can try depending on what you’re serving.
Blend fresh mint and coriander leaves with green chilli, ginger, lemon juice, and salt. Add a bit of water to get the right consistency. This works with pakoras, sandwiches, and parathas.
Mix thick curd with finely chopped mint leaves, a pinch of roasted cumin powder, and black salt. Chill before serving with kebabs or stuffed rotis.
Grind mint with garlic cloves, green chilli, and tamarind paste. Use very little water. It goes well with chaats or grilled snacks.
Blend grated coconut with mint, green chilli, and a bit of roasted chana dal. Add a tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves. This chutney is perfect for dosas and idlis.
Dry roast mint leaves, cumin, sesame seeds, and a few dried chillies. Powder it all together with salt. Sprinkle on khakhras, rice, or even curd.
