Samosa, the popular Punjabi snack, can be turned into a dessert with a mawa filling. Frequently made during the festive season, especially in Northern parts of India, here’s how you can make mawa samosa.
For The Mawa Filling: 500 grams khoya (mawa) 35 grams powdered sugar 20 grams almonds 20 grams cashews 1 tablespoon dried coconut 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder 1 tablespoon ghee For The Dough: 300 grams all-purpose flour 30 grams powdered sugar 2 tablespoons semolina 2 tablespoons ghee 150 ml warm water Oil for frying
Roast the nuts and coconut in ghee. Sauté khoya and add sugar, cardamom, and the roasted mixture.
Mix flour, sugar, semolina, and ghee. Knead a smooth dough with warm water. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough into circles and cut in half.
Add a spoonful of mawa filling, brush the edges with water, form cones, and seal.
Deep fry the samosas till golden brown. Drain on tissue paper and serve.
