Masala Oats Recipe For Quick And Healthy Breakfast

Masala oats is a savoury Indian-style porridge made using rolled oats, vegetables, and common spices. It’s a warm, filling breakfast that’s easy to prepare and keeps you full for longer.

Ingredients

½ cup rolled oats 1 tsp oil ½ tsp mustard seeds 1 onion (finely chopped) ¼ cup grated carrot ¼ cup peas or sweet corn ½ tomato (chopped) ½ tsp turmeric ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp garam masala Salt to taste 1½ cups water Coriander for garnish

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onion and sauté for 1–2 minutes.

Step 2

Add grated carrot, peas or corn, and tomato. Cook on medium heat until the vegetables begin to soften.

Step 3

Stir in rolled oats along with turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

Step 4

Pour water into the pan and simmer the mixture on low heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Once thick and cooked through, turn off the heat, garnish with chopped coriander, and serve hot.
