When mangoes are at their full swing, do not just pause at shakes and ice creams. Turn them into a homemade sweet with this delectable Mango mawa barfi. The creamy richness of mawa mixes beautifully with the fresh mango pulp, resulting in a dessert that feels soft, aromatic, and naturally fruity in every bite.

Ingredients

250 g mawa (khoya) 1 cup fresh mango pulp ½ cup sugar 2 tbsp milk ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped pistachios 1 tbsp chopped almonds 1 tsp ghee Silver leaf (optional)

Step 1

Take a steel plate or, if you have a square tray, grease it with ghee and keep it aside. Pick fresh and ripe mangoes for the pulp to get a rich texture and natural sweetness.

Step 2

In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the mawa over a low flame and stir it continuously until it begins to soften without turning brown or sticking to the pan.

Step 3

To this, add the fresh mango pulp and sugar. Mix it constantly until both of them are fully mixed, and the mixture starts to thicken and release a lovely fruity fragrance.

Step 4

Now, pour in the milk, add cardamom powder, and then stir again patiently until you see the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and gets a fudge-like consistency.

Step 5

Mix in some chopped almonds and pistachios to the mixture so that the nuts get distributed evenly, adding to the crunch.

Step 6

Transfer the prepared mixture instantly to the greased tray, spread it evenly, and garnish with remaining chopped nuts and silver leaf.

Step 7

Leave it to cool down thoroughly, then cut into squares and serve.
