Kheer, a creamy and comforting Indian dessert traditionally made with rice, can also be enjoyed in a healthier version. Why don’t you make kheer gluten-free using makhana to enjoy without any guilt?
1 cup makhana 3 cups milk 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder A pinch of saffron strands A handful of chopped almonds and cashews
Rinse and soak the makhana for half an hour.
Boil the soaked makhana in milk. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands to the pot. Stir well.
Let the kheer simmer till you get the desired consistency.
Garnish with chopped almonds and cashew nuts, and serve.
