Whether you are fasting or not during Sawan, makhana kheer is a must-have for all the health benefits that fox nuts possess. Here is an easy recipe for an Indian sweet dish that incorporates the fox nuts to perfection.
4 tbsp sugar 1 cup makhana 3-4 cardamom 2 cups milk 1 tbsp raisin 2-3 tbsp ghee 10-12 cashews 1 tbsp almonds 1 tbsp walnuts A pinch of saffron
Heat ghee in a pan and roast cashews and makhana. Fox nuts will turn crispy and kaju will be slightly brown.
In another pan, heat the milk. Use a heavy-bottom pan for this to prevent the milk from sticking to the surface or burning.
Add sugar and keep stirring the milk concoction until it dissolves.
Add cardamom, cashews, and fox nuts to the milk. Combine the ingredients and let them simmer.
After 8-10 minutes, turn off the flame, and garnish the kheer with crushed almonds and walnuts.
Serve the kheer warm or refrigerate before relishing.
