Makhana kheer is a gentle, creamy dessert where fox nuts simmer slowly in milk until they soften and absorb flavour. The texture becomes rich without feeling heavy, making it suitable for festive meals or simple evening treats. A touch of cardamom gives the kheer its traditional warmth and aroma. You can serve it hot or chilled depending on preference.
1 cup makhana 2 cups milk 2 tbsp jaggery or sugar ½ tsp cardamom powder 1 tsp ghee
Roast makhana lightly in ghee until crisp.
Add milk and simmer until the makhana softens.
Stir in jaggery or sugar and cook until slightly thickened.
Finish with cardamom powder and serve.
