Chicken steak is a popular choice for dinner amongst non-vegetarians, as the delicious, crispy chicken, generally savoured with barbecue sauce, sautéed vegetables, and fries, doubles up as an easy-to-make meal to tuck into before you call it a day.
4 chicken breasts Salt, as needed 1 tsp turmeric powder 2 tsps red chilli powder 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs 4 chopped green chillies 2 tsps chopped garlic 1 tsp chopped ginger 2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves 1 egg 4 tbsps oil French fries, as needed Sautéed vegetables, as needed Barbeque sauce, as needed
Place a cling wrap sheet on the worktop, place a chicken breast on it and slit it in half without cutting through.
Place another sheet of cling wrap on the chicken and hammer it with a steak hammer to flatten it and to form a thin steak.
Transfer the chicken to a plate. Sprinkle salt and rub it on both sides. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Set aside.
Put breadcrumbs in a blender jar, add some green chillies, garlic, ginger, and coriander leaves, and blend until well combined.
Spread this mixture on a plate. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Break an egg on the chicken breast and mix well. Coat with breadcrumbs mixture.
Place the chicken in the pan and cook for 2-2½ minutes on each side till the chicken is completely cooked and golden brown.
Arrange some French fries and sautéed vegetables on a sizzler plate, place the chicken steak over the vegetables and serve hot with barbecue sauce!
