Onion bajji, also known as vengaya bajji, is a popular South Indian street food. These crispy, flavorful fritters are a perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee, especially during the rainy season.
2 onions, sliced thinly 1 cup besan 1/4 cup rice flour 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds A pinch of baking soda Salt to taste Oil for deep frying
Mix besan, rice flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add water to make a smooth batter.
Slice the onions and coat with the batter. Heat some oil and deep-fry till crispy.
Drain excess oil and serve with your favourite chutney.
