Also known as naruneendi or Indian sarsaparilla, it is a traditional summer drink from South India that offers a cool respite from the scorching heat. Its unique flavour makes it a popular choice among locals.
1 cup of nanari roots 2 cups sugar 4 cups water 3 tbsp lemon juice Cold water as needed
Take the nannari roots and remove the centre part. Crush lightly.
Add to the blender. Crush. Remove from the blender and soak in cold water overnight.
Drain water and place it in the pot. Add sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
Boil for 20-35 minutes until syrupy. Cool it and store in an airtight container.
Take some syrup in a cup or glass, and add lemon juice. Add cold water and serve.
Nannari is known to purify the blood, improve digestion, and act as a diuretic, helping in detoxification.
