Appe is a popular South Indian snack that can be quickly whipped up for a healthy breakfast and enjoyed as a mid-meal munchie. Made with urad dal, rice, and spices, try this easy recipe for appe.
1 cup rice 1/4 cup urad dal 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds 1/4 cup grated coconut 1 green chilli 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste Water as needed
Rinse and soak rice, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds for at least 5 hours.
Add grated coconut, green chilli, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Grind till smooth.
Add water to adjust the consistency. Let the batter ferment.
Heat the appe pan or mould and pour in the batter.
Cook till appe are golden brown on both sides. Serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
