Besan halwa is a warm, nutty, ghee-rich Indian dessert made by slow-roasting gram flour and blending it with sugar and cardamom. Beyond its taste, besan halwa is valued as a nourishing winter remedy, known to soothe cold, cough, and congestion.
1 cup besan ½ cup ghee 1 cup sugar 2 cups water ¼ tsp cardamom powder Chopped nuts (optional)
Heat ghee in a pan and add besan.
Roast on low flame, stirring until golden and aromatic.
Mix water separately with sugar and add slowly to the roasted besan.
Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and leaves the pan.
Add cardamom and nuts, then serve it warm.
