Make Mango Thokku: South India's Tangy Pickle Delight

Mango Thokku is a tangy, spicy South Indian pickle made with raw mangoes, chilli powder and tempered spices. It pairs perfectly with plain dosa, rice, idlis or even parathas. This South Indian dish is a tropical thunderstorm in a jar and an ultimate sidekick to make every meal a thrilling adventure.

Ingredients

2 grated raw mangoes 2 tbsp sesame oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tbsp red chilli powder ½ tsp fenugreek powder 2 tbsp jaggery (optional) Salt to taste

Step 1

Grate the raw mangoes and keep them aside.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Step 3

Add grated mangoes, turmeric, chilli powder, fenugreek powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.

Step 4

Stir in jaggery, if desired and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Let it cool and store in an airtight container.
