Make Japanese Mochi At Home, A Soft And Chewy Rice Flour Dessert

Mochi is a popular Japanese dessert made from glutinous rice flour (mochiko), known for its soft, stretchy texture and mildly sweet taste. It can be enjoyed plain or filled with sweet fillings like red bean paste, ice cream, or chocolate.

Ingredients

1 cup glutinous rice flour (mochiko) ½ cup sugar ¾ cup water Cornstarch or potato starch (for dusting) Optional fillings: red bean paste, fruits, or ice cream

Step 1

Mix mochiko, sugar, and water in a microwave-safe bowl.

Step 2

Microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway, until thick and sticky.

Step 3

Dust a surface with starch and turn out the dough.

Step 4

Divide into small portions, flatten, and fill with your choice of filling.

Step 5

Seal and shape into smooth balls, chill before serving.
