Nothing tastes better during the monsoon than a comforting meal. If it is healthy and nutritious, you have no excuse for not trying it. Such is the beauty of Gujarati dalia that no matter what your mood is, it will always leave you satiated and well-fed.

Ingredients

¼ cup moong dal 1 slit green chilli ¼ cup broken wheat ½ cup chopped vegetables 1 tbsp ghee 1 tsp grated ginger A pinch of hing 2 cups water ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp cumin seeds Salt to taste ¼ tsp  turmeric powder

Step 1

Wash and soak broken wheat and moong dal for at least 30 minutes. It will reduce the cooking time.

Step 2

In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add hing, cumin seeds, ginger, green chilli, and turmeric powder.

Step 3

Add red chilli powder and a couple of minutes later, add moong dal, vegetables, and broken wheat into the mixture.

Step 4

Saute the ingredients on high flame for 2-3 minutes before adding water and salt.

Step 5

Turn off the flame after 3-4 whistles and wait for pressure to release.

Step 6

Either temper the dali or serve it hot for lunch or dinner.
