Make Creamy Sour Cream At Home Without Special Equipment

 Tangy, creamy, and extremely easy to make at home, this sour cream has the power to upgrade everything, right from tacos and baked potatoes to everyday sandwiches and pasta sauces. Unlike the store-bought ones, this one tastes fresh, light, and creates a rich cultured flavour, also with just two ingredients.

Ingredients

1 cup fresh cream 2 tbsp curd or buttermilk

Step 1

In a glass bowl or jar, pour fresh full-fat cream, as a richer cream makes a thick, smooth sour cream with better flavours. 

Step 2

To this, now add curd or buttermilk and mix it gently to help develop the signature tangy taste and creamy texture of the sour cream.

Step 3

Cover the bowl loosely with a lid or cloth rather than sealing it tightly to allow the mixture to ferment slowly. 

Step 4

Leave the mixture at room temperature for around 12 to 24 hours undisturbed, depending on weather conditions and how tangy you like it.

Step 5

Once it has thickened a bit and tastes pleasantly tangy, keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours. 

Step 6

Use the prepared sour cream for dips, wraps, tacos, sandwich spreads or also in creamy pasta sauces whenever you need a tangy balance.
