Makar Sankranti 2023 - How To Make Bengali Bhapa Pithe

Makar Sankranti is celebrated with different types of pithe in West Bengal and bhapa or steamed pithe is one of those many varieties.

Step 1

For the filling, mix khoya, desiccated coconut and jaggery. Cook for 10 mins and keep aside to cool.

Step 2

For the dough, mix rice flour with maida in 2:1 proportion. Make a soft dough with lukewarm water.

Step 3

Make medium sized balls with the dough and carefully stuff it with the filling. Make idli shaped pithe.

Step 4

Steam the pithe in a momo steamer for about 10 minutes.

Step 5

Serve the bhapa pithe with patali gur and enjoy your Makar Sankranti.
