Soft masoor dal cooked till creamy, then finished with a sizzling garlic tadka. This masoor dal recipe is quick, dependable, and deeply savoury, perfect for everyday meals without extra effort.

Ingredients

1 cup masoor dal 3 cups water ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp ghee 5 sliced garlic cloves 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 dried red chilli

Step 1

Wash masoor dal well; cook with water, turmeric, and salt until soft.

Step 2

Lightly whisk to achieve a smooth, pourable texture.

Step 3

Heat ghee in a small pan; add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

Step 4

Add garlic and red chilli; cook until lightly golden.

Step 5

Pour the hot tadka over the dal and mix gently.
