If your go-to munchies include a packet of chips or namkeen, why don’t you shift to a preservative-free option? Make fafda at home with the Gujarati recipe and snack whenever you feel like it.
1 cup besan ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder ½ teaspoon red chilli powder ¼ teaspoon ajwain ¼ teaspoon baking soda Salt to taste 2-3 tablespoons oil Water for kneading Oil for deep frying
Mix besan, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ajwain, baking soda, and salt.
Add 2-3 tablespoons of water, and knead a stiff dough. Make it smooth using some oil.
Take small portions of the dough and roll each portion into a cylindrical shape.
Take one end of the cylindrical dough and press it gently.
Repeat with the other end to create a loop with two twists. Heat some oil and deep fry.
Serve with a chutney or munch on the crunchy fafda as is.
