South Indian parotta looks like North Indian lachha paratha, but it tastes different. It goes well with meat and vegetable curries. The Indian bread is fulfilling and a delight to consume for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Here is how to make it.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon sugar 2 cups all-purpose flour Water as required Oil 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons ghee

Step 1

In a deep vessel, mix all-purpose flour with ghee, salt, and sugar. Add water as required and knead it into a smooth, soft, and slightly sticky dough.

Step 2

Divide the dough into small balls. Drizzle oil over them, cover them, and keep them aside for a while.

Step 3

Take one ball at a time, dust it with dry flour, and roll it into a thin disc. Start folding its edges and turn it into a ball again.

Step 4

Start rolling the ball again, and you will witness multiple layers forming on its surface. This time, keep the thickness in the medium range.

Step 5

On a hot tawa, roast the parotta on both sides until it is soft and crispy in some places.

Step 6

Repeat the process with other dough balls and serve parotta with your favourite South Indian curry.
