If you are a seafood lover, prawn curry might be a paradise for your taste buds. Perfectly cooked prawns soaked in a flavourful gravy are a heavenly delight that pairs well with a variety of Indian bread. Here is how you can replicate the Goan prawn curry recipe at home in just a few steps.
Marinate Prawns 500 gm prawns 1 tablespoon lime juice ½ teaspoon turmeric powder ½ teaspoon salt Spice Paste 8-10 Kashmiri red chillies 1 teaspoon coriander seeds 1-inch cinnamon 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 cup grated coconut 5-6 cloves of garlic 1 teaspoon cloves
Curry 2 teaspoon tamarind paste 1 cup coconut milk ½ cup chopped tomatoes 2 teaspoons chopped green chillies Salt to taste ½ cup chopped onions
In a deep bowl, marinate prawns in turmeric powder, lime juice, and salt to taste. Cover the container and keep it aside for 20-30 minutes.
Roast spices in a hot pan and blend them with grated coconut to convert them into a thick paste.
Heat a kadhai and cook marinated prawns in a tablespoon of oil. Keep them aside.
In the same utensil, add more oil and saute onions and green chillies until onions turn brown.
Add tomatoes and cook until mushy. Pour water and add salt to taste and tamarind paste. Cook for 10 minutes.
Add prawns and coconut milk to the curry and let ingredients simmer for a couple of minutes. Add salt and water consistency and serve the prawn curry hot.
