Maharashtrian amti dal is a delicious addition to the lunch spread. It is sweet, tangy, and salty making it a perfect companion to steamed rice and roti. Boasting nutty flavour, this dish is a must-cook at home. Follow this guide.
A pinch of turmeric, hing 3 cups water 1.5 cups toor dal 2 tsp goda masala 1.5 tbsp grated coconut ½ tbsp jaggery, coriander Salt to taste 6-8 curry leaves 2 tbsp ghee ½ tsp mustard 2 green chillies 2 tbsp coriander leaves
Wash and soak toor dal. Boil it with a pinch of turmeric and salt.
In a pan heat ghee, and let mustard seeds crackle.
Add turmeric and hing, green chillies, red chilli powder, and curry leaves.
Pour the dal and cook it for 5 minutes.
Add tamarind pulp of kokum, goda masala, jaggery, coconut, and coriander leaves.
After cooking for 10 minutes, serve amti dal hot with steamed rice.
