An earthen pot, or mitti ka matka gives chilled water to beat the summer heat. If you store water in a matka during the summer season, here are some tips to keep it clean and fresh.
When you first get a matka this summer, soak it in clean water for a few days and let it dry before using.
After you have washed the matka, store it away from direct sunlight and prevent any cracking.
Within a day or two, clean the matka with a cloth and get rid of any deposits.
While you clean your matka regularly, avoid using chemicals or detergents, as they can seep into the clay pores and harm your body.
It’s important to replace water regularly to avoid water wastage and also prevent it from turning warm.
If you spot any leaks and moulds, you can easily fix them by applying a thin layer of a paste made with slaked lime and water.
