Tteokbokki is a beloved Korean street food dish made from soft, chewy rice cakes cooked in a fiery red chilli sauce. It’s sweet, spicy, and sticky, a comforting snack that’s easy to recreate at home with basic ingredients.
200 g Korean rice cakes (tteok) 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chilli paste) 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp sesame oil 1 cup water Sesame seeds and spring onions for garnish
In a pan, combine gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and water, and bring to a light simmer.
Add rice cakes and cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Let the sauce thicken and coat the rice cakes completely.
Drizzle sesame oil and garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions before serving.
