Koinaar saag is a popular green available in Jharkhand during the monsoon season. The taste of this green is slightly peppery and when made with onions and garlic it's a local favourite. Get to know about the full recipe to enjoy something nutritious and delicious at the same time.
2 cups chopped Koinar Saag 1 medium onion 2-3 cloves garlic 1-2 green chilies 1 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp mustard seeds Salt to taste 2-3 tsp oil
Wash the leaves well in running water to remove dirt and impurities and the boil the koinar saag in salted water for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan and add spices, onion, garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and coriander powder.
Add the blanched Koinar Saag to the pan and cook until the saag is tender.
Season with salt to taste. Serve hot with rice or roti.
