Homemade fruit wines are artisanal fermented drinks made from fresh, in-season fruits. Winter is the best time to make homemade fruit wines because it makes them clearer and more complex, which makes them perfect for any fancy wine serving at any event.
500 g fresh seasonal fruits (chopped) 150 g sugar 1 litre filtered water 1 tablespoon wine yeast 30 ml lemon juice
Make sure there are no bruised or spoiled pieces left after you clean and chop the fresh fruits.
Put the fruits, sugar, and filtered water in a clean glass jar and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the lemon juice and wine yeast, mix gently, and cover the jar with a clean muslin cloth so that the fermentation can happen naturally.
Put the jar in a cool, dark place for 5 to 6 weeks. Stir it once a day to let gases out and mix the flavours.
After the fermentation, strain the liquid through a fine cloth, put it in sterilised bottles, and let it sit for three weeks before serving.
