Dum Aloo is a flavorful and hearty potato curry that's popular all over India. It's a perfect blend of spices and herbs simmered in a creamy tomato-based gravy. You can serve it with rice, roti, paratha and many other dishes.
500g baby potatoes, peeled 1 onion, chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped ½ cup yoghurt 2 tablespoons of oil 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds 1 teaspoon of ginger paste 1 teaspoon of garlic paste 1 teaspoon of coriander powder 1 teaspoon of cumin powder ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder ½ teaspoon of red chilli powder Salt to taste Water as needed Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.
Add the cumin seeds once the oil gets hot and watch them sizzle for a short while.
Add the chopped onions and cook them for a few minutes until golden brown.
Add the ginger and garlic paste. Add the diced tomatoes. Continue cooking until they are mushy and tender.
Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Mix the masala and potatoes thoroughly.
Add salt to taste and combine everything well. Mix in the yoghurt. Add water as needed. Cook over high heat in a pressure cooker. Set for 2 whistles.
Turn off the heat and let natural pressure escape. Remove the lid and garnish with fresh cilantro.
