No sargi thali is complete without sweet mathri. Whether you want to make it with sugar or jaggery, meethi mathri is a quintessential part of the Karwa Chauth spread. To make it at home, follow these 5 steps.
2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup water 1/2 cup ghee 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon saunf 1/4 teaspoon elaichi A pinch of salt Oil for frying
Knead a dough with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, saunf, elaichi, and salt. Let it rest.
Take small portions from the smoothed dough. Roll into thin circles.
Prick with a fork to prevent them from overpuffing while frying. Heat some oil and deep-fry.
Prepare chashni by simmering sugar and water. Dip and coat the fried mathris in the chashni.
Let them cool down and add to your Karwa Chauth thali.
