Karwa Chauth and mathri go hand-in-hand. Even though you can purchase mathri from your local store, the joy of making it at home is unmatched. To make meethi mathri at home, follow this step-wise recipe.
2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup water 1/2 cup ghee 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon saunf 1/4 teaspoon elaichi A pinch of salt Oil for frying
Knead a dough with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, saunf, elaichi, and salt. Let it rest.
Take small portions from the smoothened dough. Roll into thin circles.
Prick with a fork to prevent them from overpuffing while frying. Heat some oil and deep fry.
Prepare chashni by simmering sugar and water. Dip and coat the fried mathris in the chashni.
Let them cool down and add to your Karwa Chauth thali.
