Kala chana is a staple dish prepared during Navratri. It is especially a part of the bhog spread on Ashtami and Navami. Here is how to make it.
4 cups soaked chana 2 cups water Salt to taste 1.5 tsp coriander powder ½ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp garam masala 1 tsp amchur powder ½ tsp red chilli powder 2 slit green chillies 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp coriander leaves 1 tbsp oil 1 tsp cumin seeds
Boil chana with salt and water. It should easily be mashable between fingers.
Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add cumin seeds, green chillies, and turmeric powder.
Add boiled chana and cook for a few minutes or until the remaining water evaporates.
Sprinkle all the powdered spices and cook with a lid on.
Drizzle lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
