Kada Prasad is a sacred, velvety wheat flour halwa served at Gurudwaras across the world, famously synonymous with the blessing received at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Prepared with equal parts whole wheat flour (atta), pure desi ghee, organic sugar, and water, this recipe relies on patient roasting to achieve a dark, nutty aroma and a melt-in-the-mouth texture. Rich, aromatic, and deeply comforting, it brings the sacred taste of authentic gurudwara prasad right into your home kitchen.
1 cup coarse whole wheat flour (atta) 1 cup pure desi ghee 1 cup granulated sugar 3 cups water
Dissolve the sugar in three cups of water in a saucepan over medium heat, bringing it just to a gentle simmer until the sugar completely melts, then set the warm syrup aside.
Melt the pure desi ghee in a heavy-bottomed kadhai or pan over medium heat, then add the coarse whole wheat flour and stir continuously with a spatula.
oast the wheat flour in ghee on medium-low heat for ten to twelve minutes, stirring without pause, until the flour turns a deep golden-brown color and releases a rich, nutty aroma.
Lower the flame completely and carefully pour in the warm sugar water syrup in a steady stream while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
