Upma is one of the go-to South Indian breakfast options. Filled with vegetables, it is an impeccable option to start your day with. And you can even make your bowl gluten-free with this jowar upma recipe.
¾ cup jowar rava 1 onion ¾ cup mixed vegetables 1 cup water 1 teaspoon urad dal ½ teaspoon cumin seeds ½ teaspoon mustard seeds 1 pinch hing 2 green chillies Salt to taste Oil for cooking ¼ cup fresh grated coconut Lemon juice for garnishing Coriander leaves for garnishing
Wash jowar, add it to a pressure cooker with a cup of water, and cook for two whistles.
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds till they splutter. Add urad dal and fry till golden brown.
Sauté chopped onions, green chillies, and chopped vegetables and cook till they are soft.
Season with hing and salt. Add cooked jowar and mix well.
Stir in grated coconut and lemon juice. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, and enjoy.
