Janmashtami 2026 prasad is not just about placing something sweet on the puja thali. From creamy kheer and makhan-mishri to peda and panjiri, these bhog offerings showcase Krishna’s lasting association with milk and butter, which can be turned into simple homemade treats.
Whisk some fresh homemade butter until it turns soft, then add in crushed mishri. Add a few tulsi leaves, cardamom powder, and a few strands of kesar before offering.
Roast some coriander powder gently in ghee until it turns fragrant. Mix in some powdered sugar, makhana and chopped nuts to make vrat-friendly prasad.
Roast some makhana in ghee, then crush lightly and let them simmer with milk. Add sugar and cardamom, then cook until the kheer turns creamy.
Cook the crumbled khoya on low flame until it turns a bit golden. Mix in sugar and cardamom, let the mixture cool and then shape into small pedas.
Fry some chopped almonds, cashews, makhana and melon seeds in ghee until they turn crisp. Bind them with sugar syrup, spread on a thali, and let the mixture set.
