Capture the essence of the season with this Jamun Mojito, a drink that balances the deep, astringent sweetness of Indian black plums with the bright snap of fresh lime and cooling mint. By muddling the fruit pulp into a concentrated base before topping it with sparkling soda, you create a complex, earthy refresher that cuts through the humidity of the monsoon. It is a stunning, violet-hued cocktail that brings a sophisticated, orchard-fresh touch to any rainy afternoon.
1 cup fresh jamun (black plums), pitted and roughly chopped 1 tbsp honey or simple syrup 8-10 fresh mint leaves 30ml fresh lime juice Sparkling soda water, to top Crushed ice and lime wedges for garnish
Muddle the pitted jamun, mint leaves, and lime juice in a sturdy glass until the fruit releases its deep purple juice and the mint oils are fully infused.
Stir in the honey or syrup until completely dissolved into the muddled fruit base.
Fill the glass to the brim with crushed ice and pour the sparkling soda water over the top.
Stir gently to lift the fruit from the bottom, garnish with fresh mint and a lime wedge, and serve immediately.
