Iron-Rich Aliv & Sabja Seed Pudding: A Nourishing Superfood Dessert

Aliv (garden cress) and sabja (basil) seeds are traditional Indian superfoods celebrated for their remarkable health benefits. Aliv is incredibly rich in iron and folic acid, while sabja provides exceptional hydration and cooling effects for the body. Together, soaked in milk and lightly sweetened, they form a nutritious, texturally delightful pudding that supports digestion and boosts overall vitality.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon aliv (garden cress) seeds 1 tablespoon sabja (sweet basil) seeds 1.5 cups milk (dairy or coconut milk) 2 tablespoons jaggery powder or maple syrup A pinch of cardamom powder Chopped nuts for garnish

Step 1

Rinse the aliv and sabja seeds gently in a fine-mesh strainer.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the seeds with the milk and let them soak for at least 2 hours, or overnight in the refrigerator, until fully swollen.

Step 3

Stir in the jaggery powder and cardamom, mixing well until the sweetener is completely dissolved.

Step 4

Pour into serving glasses, garnish with chopped nuts, and serve chilled.
