Watching a match feels incomplete unless you have something crunchy to snack on with every cheer. Chinese Bhel is a street-style Indo-Chinese favourite that is perfect for match-day. It is spicy and crispy, making the perfect match-day snack to share while cheering for your favourite team.
2 cups fried crispy noodles ½ cup shredded cabbage ½ cup thinly sliced capsicum ¼ cup grated carrot 2 tablespoons chopped spring onions 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon Schezwan sauce 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup 1 teaspoon vinegar 1 teaspoon chilli sauce 1 tablespoon oil Salt to taste
In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add shredded cabbage, sliced capsicum, and grated carrot. Stir-fry these on a high flame for about 2 to 3 minutes.
To this, add soy sauce, Schezwan sauce, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, and vinegar. Mix everything well to make a tangy, zesty base.
Season the base lightly with salt and cook the vegetables and sauces for another minute so that the flavours mix evenly.
Transfer the stir-fried mixture to a large mixing bowl and let it cool so that the noodles remain crisp when they are mixed.
Add fried crispy noodles and chopped spring onions to the stir-fried veggies. Toss everything quickly so that the noodles remain crunchy and do not turn soggy.
Serve the Chinese bhel immediately in bowls while it's still crisp.
