Instant moong dal halwa is a rich Indian dessert made with roasted yellow moong dal, ghee, milk, and cardamom. This quick halwa recipe delivers the same festive flavour and texture in much less time.
1 cup yellow moong dal ¾ cup sugar ½ cup ghee 2 cups milk ½ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped dry fruits
Dry roast the moong dal on a low flame till aromatic, then cool and grind into a coarse paste.
Heat ghee in a heavy-bottom pan and roast the dal paste till light golden and fragrant.
Slowly add warm milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps and cook till thick.
Add sugar and cardamom powder, mix well, and cook until the halwa turns glossy.
Once ghee starts separating, garnish with dry fruits and serve hot.
